Charfield Station Engagement

Charfield Station Engagement

We are running a 12-week pre-application consultation for Charfield Station proposals which will begin on Tuesday 19th October 2021. This phase of engagement work will close at midnight on Monday 10th January 2022.

A new station will support sustainable travel to and from the village and surrounding area. The station will also improve access to jobs, education and a wider variety of services and facilities and help mitigate some of the impacts of recent development in the area.

Preliminary plans are being developed by the Council and have been funded to date by the West of England Combined Authority. Network Rail have been appointed by the Council to progress a design for the station. An Outline Business Case for the station has been submitted to the Combined Authority to help secure funding to progress the scheme further.

The new station will provide a minimum hourly service in both directions and include two platforms serving north and southbound journeys, a pedestrian footbridge, a public transport interchange, covered cycle parking, and car parking.

Feedback from local residents, businesses and organisations will be used to shape the station proposals going forward and inform more detailed designs. It is anticipated that a planning application for the scheme will be submitted to the Local Planning Authority in spring 2022, allowing time for the engagement feedback to inform the final plans.

Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
For example, education issues may be of particular interest to Parents & Guardians, and so will be shown to people searching the system for parenting issues, but the views of others (eg: Business, Faith Groups) are also relevant.
