Grovesend Road/Gillingstool Active Travel Route

What we want to know

We are forward-thinking in our plans for the area's future travel needs. Across the West of England, we’ve set out how we will deliver a well-connected sustainable transport network that works for residents; a network that offers greater, realistic travel choices and makes walking, cycling and public transport the natural way to travel.

Alongside our normal schedule of work to fix and maintain roads for motorists, we are looking to encourage more Thornbury residents to consider making fewer journeys by car by making cycling, walking and wheeling easier, quicker and safer. We’re keen to do this by opening up a new ‘active travel’ route to and from Thornbury Town Centre, along Grovesend Road/Gillingstool.

We have developed initial plans for this new route and want to gather feedback from local people to help us ensure they work for all.

Share your views

We are keen to hear from people who live, work and travel in and through the area, from anyone who walks or cycles and also from those who don’t.

Please share your views by clicking on the button link below to complete the short online survey.

Please note: We are currently experiencing technical issues accepting responses from some mobile phones. We are working with our supplier to resolve this issue as soon as possible, but please use a tablet or computer browser to complete the survey in the meantime.

How your feedback will be used

These plans are at any early stage and funding needs to be secured from the West of England Combined Authority.

By completing the survey, you can tell us if you want a new cycle or walking route, you can let us know if you think any aspects of the scheme could be improved, and you can let us know about other things we can do to encourage greater take-up of active travel and public transport in your area.

We’ll then decide whether to take this proposal forward to secure funding.

Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
For example, education issues may be of particular interest to Parents & Guardians, and so will be shown to people searching the system for parenting issues, but the views of others (eg: Business, Faith Groups) are also relevant.
