Amanda Grundy - Natural England With respect to the decommissioning of Magnox nuclear station, we are pleased that the proposed policy recognises the ecological and landscape sensitivity of its location and the need for a collaborative approach and master planning to minimise impacts and secure wider benefits for people and wildlife. We particularly note the intention to reinstate the habitat value of lagoon 3 for bird species associated with the Severn Estuary SSSI, SPA and Ramsar site. Natural England is supportive of this approach in principle and would welcome further discussion with the Council and other parties to explore this further. 30 Mar 2021 15:52

Victoria Bailey - Oldbury on S… Whilst the Policies are generally acceptable there are issues for consideration:-

Page 215 Reinstatement of Silt Lagoon 3 is a contentious issue in so far as there were conditions established for reinstatement of the site after cessation of use. The site was originally an agricultural field and so serious consideration as to what reinstatement means should not necessarily be the habitat value for birds. This is particularly relevant due to the finding of the Shoreline Management Plan (SMP2) which is currently under review.

Page 216 Demonstrating resilience to Climate Change is not sufficient in so far as the issues regarding flood risk and coastal erosion particularly in the medium to long term are well documented and potentially have impact during the life of this Local Plan. The aim must be to seek improvement in accordance with SMP2. This is essential for the protection of existing nuclear related facilities and for any potential new NSIP developments be they Nuclear or otherwise and for the local communities.
