Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2022

The Health and Wellbeing Board publish a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) identifying if any changes are needed to community pharmaceutical services in South Gloucestershire now or in the lifespan of the PNA, and whether improvements or better access is needed. This assessment of pharmaceutical needs in South Gloucestershire is a statutory responsibility of the Health and Wellbeing Board in South Gloucestershire, as per the Health and Social Care Act 2012 and is produced every three years.

The PNA is produced for NHS England to support decision making around the granting of licenses for community pharmaceutical provision in South Gloucestershire for the period covered by the assessment, 2022 to 2025, and may also be used to inform local commissioning decisions. Community pharmaceutical services include local chemists, dispensing doctors (doctors that can dispense medication to patients in rural areas) and dispensing appliance contractors (businesses which dispense medical appliances such as catheters), and they play a crucial role in improving the health of local people.

Stakeholders are invited to review and comment on the draft PNA before it is finalised and published.

Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
For example, education issues may be of particular interest to Parents & Guardians, and so will be shown to people searching the system for parenting issues, but the views of others (eg: Business, Faith Groups) are also relevant.
