A38 Alveston Church - Bus Stop Improvements

Background

Concerns have been raised by disabled users regarding the accessibility of the Alveston Church bus stops on the A38. The northbound bus stop was recently upgraded to provide level access as part of the Better Bus 2 project. Funding has since become available to upgrade the southbound bus stop. Funding is also available to improve the accessibility of the bus stops through minor crossing improvements outside Alveston Church.

Purpose of Scheme

To improve accessibility of the Alveston Church bus stops on the A38, especially for disabled users.

Proposed Scheme

To install bus boarder kerbs at the Alveston Church southbound stop. This will involve moving the bus stop 25m southwest as there is insufficient room at the current bus stop location. The southern footway outside 3 Gloucester Rd will also be raised to the level of the road. This will enable disabled users to use the existing refuge without having to traverse any steps therefore improving accessibility.

Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
