Acton Turville - Village Gateway Review

Background

There is a history of concerns raised by local residents about vehicle speeds through the village, in particular Burton Rd which has a mean speed of 39mph which is excessive for the existing 30mph speed limit that is currently in place. This scheme had been included in the Capital Programme with the intention to further enhance the entrance to the village by alerting motorists of a change of environment, approaching a lower speed limit to encourage motorists to slow down.

Purpose of Scheme

The purpose of the scheme is to highlight a change of environment, and to encourage motorists to reduce traffic speeds whilst approaching the village. This will improve road safety for vulnerable road users as well as making walking and cycling in and around the village more attractive.

Proposed Scheme

The proposed scheme is to install ‘Gateway’ features to enhance the existing speed limit entry signing into the village.

Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
For example, education issues may be of particular interest to Parents & Guardians, and so will be shown to people searching the system for parenting issues, but the views of others (eg: Business, Faith Groups) are also relevant.
