BT Phonebox Removal

Thank you to everyone who took part in this consultation. Our now final decision is now available to view

BT are proposing to remove 93 payphones (also referred to in this consultation as phone boxes) in South Gloucestershire. The removal concerns those phone boxes identified as unnecessary, whilst retaining public payphones that are either still in use or have been categorised as providing a social need.

The list of phone boxes being considered for removal can be found in the full consultation document. You can also see the relevant payphones mapped by location here, however this is only accurate to the level of postcode, not the exact street position.

This consultation process also gives local communities the opportunity to adopt a traditional red ‘heritage’ phone box and make them an asset that local people can enjoy. This costs £1 and can be done on the following webpage:

Please give us your views

We welcome comments on any of the phone boxes identified in the full consultation document or the First Notification of Initial Decision by 9am on 12th December 2016.

On 10th November we issued an initial decision on the removal of phone boxes, which we will open to further consultation for 4 weeks, before considering responses and issuing a final decision to BT on 15th December.

Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
For example, education issues may be of particular interest to Parents & Guardians, and so will be shown to people searching the system for parenting issues, but the views of others (eg: Business, Faith Groups) are also relevant.
