- The council’s commitment to supporting staff and residents with protected characteristics
- The ways in which it seeks to deliver service outcomes in line with this commitment
- The ways in which it monitors progress.
The current Equality Plan, which runs from 2015 until 2019 and can be found at:
The council believes that the current Equality Plan is broadly still suitable, though some details need to be amended in order to match changes in policy and legislation.

|Consultation Topic||Equalities issues|
|Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
For example, education issues may be of particular interest to Parents & Guardians, and so will be shown to people searching the system for parenting issues, but the views of others (eg: Business, Faith Groups) are also relevant.
|Target Audience||Asylum seekers and refugees, Black and minority ethnic people, Carers, Councillors / MPs / MEPs, Gay, lesbian and bisexual people, Gypsies & travellers, Older people, People with disabilities, People with learning difficulties, Scrutiny commissions / panels, Town and Parish Councils, Voluntary and community groups / organisations, Young people|
