Fairer Contributions Policy - What are your views?

We are asking residents of South Gloucestershire for their views on changes to the way that social care users contribute to the support they receive.

The proposed Fairer Contributions Policy follows the introduction of personal care budgets, which give users of non-residential social care - such as day care and care in the home - greater control over their care and who delivers it.

As part of the changes, we needs to revise the way that it calculates the costs of services covered by personal budgets, and how much users should contribute towards them.

At a time of reduced resources but increasing demand for services, the proposals aim to ensure that the council can continue to provide social services for those who need them, by ensuring that everyone who is able to contribute to their personal budget does so.

The Fairer Contribution Policy is part of a national policy initiative that aims to use social services funding more effectively while also sharing it more fairly among service users.

The Fairer Contributions Policy consultation begins on 4th November with questionnaires sent to social service users throughout South Gloucestershire, and an online version also available to complete on the our website.

We want to hear your views. The deadline for replies is Friday 27th January 2012.

After the consultation has ended on Friday 27th January 2012, the council will consider your responses and make a decision on behalf of South Gloucestershire residents.

Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
For example, education issues may be of particular interest to Parents & Guardians, and so will be shown to people searching the system for parenting issues, but the views of others (eg: Business, Faith Groups) are also relevant.
