The Council proposes to make an order to introduce a 20 mph speed limit that will include the following roads in Tockington: –

Manor Park, Manor Close, Washingpool Hill

Full details of the proposal, together with a plan, a statement of the Council's reasons for making the order, a copy of the draft order, and any order(s) to be varied or revoked have been deposited at Thornbury Public Library where they may be inspected, free of charge, during normal library opening hours.

On 22 August 2017 the Director of Environment, Planning and Community Services acting under Delegated Authority considered the objections and comments received in response to the advertisement of the above proposed traffic order. After carefully considering these objections together with the comments the following decision was taken:

  1. Both local members and officers see value in progressing the proposed speed limits. It is therefore recommended that the proposed 20mph speed limit in the vicinity of Tockington Manor School should be implemented as advertised.
  2. To support the comments made by the Local Member and address the concerns raised by the residents it is recommended that a 30mph speed limit scheme be progressed on the remainder of Washingpool Hill Road.
  3. That the Head of Legal Governance and Democratic Services be authorised to seal the Traffic Regulation Orders.
  4. That those who commented at the advertisement stage are informed accordingly.

The Director of Environment and Community Services Decision relating to this matter may viewed online at The reasons for the decision are contained in the Director’s Report, a copy of which may be obtained by contacting 01454 868004.

The order is to be made on 4 December 2017 and will become operative on 25 December 2017.   Accordingly, a public notice will appear in the local newspaper shortly after the order is made.

Geographical area Severn
Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
For example, education issues may be of particular interest to Parents & Guardians, and so will be shown to people searching the system for parenting issues, but the views of others (eg: Business, Faith Groups) are also relevant.
Target Audience All residents, General public
