The Council proposes to install a Zebra pedestrian crossing across West Street, Oldland Common, north of its junction with High Street and Barry Road.

Full details of the proposal, together with a plan and a statement of the Council's reasons for proposing to install the measures can be seen in the documents section below and have also been deposited at Kingswood One Stop Shop and at Cadbury Heath Public Library and may be seen free of charge during normal opening hours.

On 27 February 2018 the Director of Environment, Planning and Community Services acting under Delegated Authority considered the objections and comments received in response to the advertisement of the above proposed traffic management measures. After carefully considering these objections together with the comments the following decision was taken:

1. Both the local members and officers see value in progressing the proposed installation of a zebra crossing on West Street.

2. Although local members have some concerns about the relocation of the bus stop to Barry Road council officers (including the road safety team) consider the associated bus stop relocation (to facilitate the implementation of the proposed zebra crossing) as both essential to the proposal and that it does not constitute a danger to pedestrian, or driver, safety. It is therefore recommended that the proposed zebra crossing and bus stop relocation in the vicinity of West Street should be implemented as advertised.

3. That the Head of Legal Governance and Democratic Services be authorised to seal the Traffic Regulation Orders.

4. That the objectors are informed accordingly

The Director of Environment and Community Services Decision relating to this matter may viewed online at www.southglos.gov.uk. The reasons for the decision are contained in the Director’s Report, a copy of which may be obtained by contacting 01454 868004.

The traffic management measures will be implemented in due course.

Consultation Topic Local highways and transportation projects
Geographical area Oldland Common
Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
For example, education issues may be of particular interest to Parents & Guardians, and so will be shown to people searching the system for parenting issues, but the views of others (eg: Business, Faith Groups) are also relevant.
Target Audience All residents, General public
