THORNBURY- Application for Special Extinguishment of public footpath OTH 19 at The Sheiling School and The Castle School - INFORMAL CONSULTATION

South Gloucestershire Council has received an application under the Highways Act 1980 for a special extinguishment order to stop up a section of public footpath OTH 19 which crosses the grounds of The Sheiling School and The Castle School in Thornbury.  The applicants are concerned about pupil safeguarding following incidents of anti-social behaviour, vandalism and trespass.  They feel they could improve their site security if people were unable to gain access to their sites via the public footpath.

This informal consultation has now closed. Any comments received have now been forwarded to the Head of Environment and Community Services (Public Rights of Way Team) for consideration. In due course this matter will be reported to the Public Rights of Way and Commons Registration Sub Committee for decision as to whether or not an order should be made.

Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
For example, education issues may be of particular interest to Parents & Guardians, and so will be shown to people searching the system for parenting issues, but the views of others (eg: Business, Faith Groups) are also relevant.
