South Gloucestershire Council are proposing the introduction of double yellow lines and amendments to existing double yellow lines in the Thornbury area at the following locations below. The aims are to;
- facilitate parking
- facilitate passage of vehicles on the road
Background, purpose and proposed scheme
St Davids Road
Currently there are issues with vehicles trying to pass each other from Gillingstool (Road) entering St David's Road. The purpose of the scheme is to help facilitate and improve vehicles to pass each other safely at this location. The proposed scheme will involve extension of the existing double yellows lines on both sides of St Davids Road.
Elmdale Crescent
Due to the narrow width of Elmdale Crescent current parking practices, i.e. vehicles parking on both sides of the road and an existing advisory keep clear markings, are causing issues with vehicles being able to pass each other. The purpose of the scheme is to help facilitate vehicles being able to pass each other safely, in particular larger vehicles i.e. ambulances and refuse vehicles. The proposed scheme intends to shift parking to the east side of Elmdale Crescent and prevent parking on the west side through the introduction of double yellow lines.
St John Street (Quakers Court)
An existing length of double yellow line currently prohibits parking outside of Quakers Court. The purpose of the scheme is to allow vehicles to park outside of Quakers Court where the footway has been removed to facilitate a parking area. Therefore it is proposed to remove the length of double yellow line in question to facilitate parking.
Timescale
Depending on the results of the public consultation and statutory advertisement of the waiting restrictions, it is anticipated that the scheme will be implemented by mid-2018.

Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
For example, education issues may be of particular interest to Parents & Guardians, and so will be shown to people searching the system for parenting issues, but the views of others (eg: Business, Faith Groups) are also relevant. |
