Yate Spur - Link to central Yate
Background
The Yate Spur path is being promoted by South Gloucestershire Council to provide a cycle route between the Bristol and Bath railway path and Yate. To date, the path has been completed as far north as Dodmore Crossing, Westerleigh.
There is an existing signed route from Westerleigh village linking the Yate Spur path with central Yate. South Gloucestershire Council wishes to improve on-carriageway cycling facilities on the following sections of this link to central Yate:
- Westerleigh Road in Westerleigh (between Dodmoor Crossing and Besom Lane);
- Shire Way, Dodington (eastern half between Sargeant's Farm Bridge and Rodford Way).
Purpose of Scheme
The purpose of the scheme is to improve the on-carriageway sections of the existing link between the Yate Spur path and central Yate.
The scheme will enhance safety for cyclists and encourage additional non-motorised journeys.
Proposed Scheme
Westerleigh Road in Westerleigh village between Dodmore Crossing and Besom Lane;
- Provision of cycle symbol road markings along Westerleigh Road between Dodmore Crossing and Besom Lane. Installation of warning signs.
Shire Way, between Sargeant's Farm Bridge and Rodford Way;
- Removal of build-outs and centre line. Provision of advisory on-carriageway cycle lanes.

Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
For example, education issues may be of particular interest to Parents & Guardians, and so will be shown to people searching the system for parenting issues, but the views of others (eg: Business, Faith Groups) are also relevant. |
