YATE - Town Centre Waiting Restriction Review
Background
Following the development of the Riverside Retail and Leisure Complex, and the introduction of limited parking within the shopping Centre car park, there has been an increase in all day parking taking place in residential streets which has caused access difficulties. Also concerns have been raised from residents living near to local primary schools about parking during the start and end of the school day.
Purpose of the Scheme
The purpose of this scheme is to restrict dangerous areas of parking whilst ensuring that there is adequate provision for visitors accessing the local shops and businesses without adversely affecting the local residents.
Proposed Scheme
The proposed scheme, shown in plan T438-600-02B
The following roads are affected by this scheme:
-
Broadway, Church Road, Cleeve Road, Elmgrove Crescent, Firgrove Crescent, Gleneagles, Highway, Home Orchard, Kennedy Way, Lawns Road, Link Road, Melrose Avenue, Orchard Close, Painswick Drive, Ridgeway, Stanshawe Crescent, Station Road, Sundridge Park, Swan Field, The Glen, Tree Leaze, Turnpike Close, Walnut Avenue, Westerleigh Road.
It is also proposed to prevent all day parking, and allow sufficient access to the local shops and businesses by revising the parking time for off-street parking south of the Leisure Centre, from 12 hours to 4 hours in the following car parks;-
- Leisure Centre car park
- Kennedy Way car park

Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
For example, education issues may be of particular interest to Parents & Guardians, and so will be shown to people searching the system for parenting issues, but the views of others (eg: Business, Faith Groups) are also relevant. |
