Proposed admission arrangements for all community and voluntary controlled schools in South Gloucestershire for the 2015-2016 academic year

This consultation is now closed.

The admission arrangements for community and controlled schools for the academic year 2015/2016 have now been determined by the CYP Committee.  Please read the new determined arrangements in the summary of results section below.

South Gloucestershire Council is consulting on the admission to school arrangements which will apply in September 2015-16.

These arrangements are likely to be of particular interest to parents/carers of children starting school for the first time in September 2015 or are moving from primary to secondary school at that time.

Children born between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2011 will be eligible to start school in September 2015.

Children born between 1 September 2003 and 31 August 2004 will be eligible to transfer from primary to secondary school in September 2015.

The proposed school admission arrangements may also be of interest to pre-school groups and providers and to community groups involving parents and carers.

Admission arrangements are particularly important in setting out the rules which will be followed in allocating school places if any school receives more applications than there are places available.

The over-subscription criteria for 2015-16 for community and controlled primary and secondary schools remain substantively the same as those approved for 2014-15.

Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
For example, education issues may be of particular interest to Parents & Guardians, and so will be shown to people searching the system for parenting issues, but the views of others (eg: Business, Faith Groups) are also relevant.
