Dodington / Sodbury – A432 Kennedy Way/Heron Way – Signalised junction

Purpose of the scheme

The purpose of this scheme is to change the current arrangement of the Kennedy Way / Heron Way junction by converting it to a signal-controlled junction which will allow the junction to operate in a more controlled and safe way. Allowing all vehicles to turn right out of Heron Way will also alleviate pressure on the Scott Way/Kennedy Way roundabout.

Proposed scheme

The proposed scheme is to signalise all arms of the Kennedy Way/ Heron Way junction. The current restrictions for right turning traffic on Heron Way will be removed to permit all vehicles only to carry out the manoeuvre. Cyclists on Kennedy Way heading east towards Chipping Sodbury will bypass the signals as they pass through the junction to continue eastbound and use an advanced stop line at the junction to turn right in to Heron Way. Westbound cyclists will move with vehicular traffic through the junction to go straight ahead and will have their own left turn slip cycleway with a give way on to a short section of cycle lane on Heron Way. The existing lining will be changed to suit the new layout.

Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
For example, education issues may be of particular interest to Parents & Guardians, and so will be shown to people searching the system for parenting issues, but the views of others (eg: Business, Faith Groups) are also relevant.
